Several exciting events took place during our Spring 2014 delegation to China. Representative Joe Tolson, Chair of the Advisory Board of Global Classroom Alliance, led the delegation from NC to China to participate in the 2014 program "NC Lenses of Art and Academics." Participants included the NCICU President, Dr. Hope Williams; NECP Principal and Executive Director, John Westberg; NECP Director of Communications/Grants, Diane LeFiles; Representatives from the State Board of Education, Legislators, NC Private Colleges and Universities, and K-12 Public Schools.
March 26 The participants arrived in Beijing.
March 27 Participants dined with Representatives from the Ministry of Education
March 28 Participants toured the campus of LUHE International Academy, celebrated the establishment of GCA's Central Office, commemorated the start of the International Classroom Program between LUHE International Academy and North East Carolina Prep School, and met with student representatives at LUHE International Academy. Later that evening, participants dined with the Deputy to the People's Congress, Representatives from Tongzhou Education Bureau, and Representatives from the local government.
March 29, 30 Participants visited the Great Wall and an art event coordinated by the Yongkan Film Group and the Chinese government.
March 31 Participants commemorated the collaboration between Jiayu High School and Apex High School's Academy of Information Technology, and celebrated the collaboration between Hulongguan Middle School and North East Carolina Prep School.
April 1 The group flew out to Nanjin to visit Nanjing Yanziji High School and met with the school representatives there.
April 2 The group flew out to the city of Wanning on Hainan Island to meet the Mayor and Representatives from the Department of Culture, Economics, and Education. Later that evening, participants attended a dinner hosted by the Mayor of Wanning.
April 3 The group headed out to the city of Haikou on Hainan Island to commemorate the establishment of the International Classroom Program at the High School Affiliated to Huazhong Normal University. Here, the group toured the campus, attended a presentation on the International Classroom Program, celebrated the addition of the High School Affiliated to Huazhong Normal University to GCA's Alliance Schools, and met with student representatives. Later that evening, participants attended a welcome dinner hosted by the High School Affiliated to Huazhong Normal University.
April 4 The group visited the High School Affiliated to Huazhong Normal Univeristy again to meet with school representatives during lunch. Later that afternoon, the group visited Haikou No. 1 High School to tour the campus to discuss the International Classroom Program and to meet with student representatives. Later that evening, the group attended a farewell dinner hosted by Haijou No. 1 High School.
April 5 The participants toured Hainan Island.
April 6 The participants flew out to Hong Kong and returned to the United States.
